A newsletter from Rosemead School District announces the "Home Stretch: Honoring Our Staff and Principals" with a red banner at the top and text detailing the message below.

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

As we move through the final stretch of the school year and enter the state testing window, I want to recognize the incredible work happening across our schools on behalf of your children. Our teachers and staff have worked diligently to prepare students for this moment, providing strong instruction, support, and encouragement every step of the way. State assessments are just one measure of student progress, but they reflect the care and commitment that have defi ned this entire school year. I am grateful for this hard work.
I also want to take a moment to acknowledge our principals - Dr. Moreno, Dr. Boeve, Mrs. Wazirkajoyan, Ms. Conde, and Dr. Duncan - what with National School Principals Day happening last Friday. Their leadership is central to the success of our schools. They lead with humility and professionalism, supporting both students and staff while creating positive, focused learning environments. From guiding instruction to ensuring each campus runs smoothly, their efforts often happen behind the scenes but have a lasting impact on every child’s experience.

Together, the dedication of our staff and the leadership of our principals help ensure that students feel confident, supported, and ready to do their best.

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

I want to take a moment to update you on the status of our negotiations with the Rosemead Teachers Association. Recently, it was decided that we will be moving into mediation, which is a normal step in the process and simply means we’re bringing in a neutral third party to help us work through remaining differences (the negotiations process with our classified employees continues without the assistance of a third-party mediator). While this signals that there is still work to be done to reach an agreement, it also reflects a shared commitment to keep the conversation moving forward productively.

You may have heard news that other school districts in surrounding areas are facing difficult decisions, including layoffs or even labor actions such as strikes. I am happy to inform you that our district is not dealing with those issues, but we still have items to resolve, and we remain committed to reaching an agreement that is fair, responsible, and focused on supporting both our staff and our students.

The image is a newsletter from the Rosemead School District, featuring a message from the Superintendent and a guide for families on where to start with communications during the current situation.

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

As a child, my parents cared deeply about my education, but like many families, they faced real challenges in engaging with our school. My parents weren’t born here, and English was not the only language spoken in our home. Navigating the school system often felt overwhelming, and I remember how difficult it was for them to know whom to contact, how to ask questions, or even where to begin. Despite their strong desire to support my siblings and me, there were barriers that made that partnership with the school more complicated than it should have been.

That experience has stayed with me and continues to shape my commitment to ensuring that every family feels welcome, informed, and empowered to engage with their child’s school.

The image shows the logo and header of the Rosemead School District, along with a message from the Superintendent regarding preparing students for success.

Dear Rosemead Families and Community,

I hope you and your loved ones had some time to relax over the Spring Recess. As we enter the state testing season, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of these assessments and the vital role each of you plays in supporting your child’s success. State assessments are more than just a measure of performance; they are an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning, reflect on their growth, and build habits that will serve them well beyond the classroom.

Research consistently shows that taking assessments seriously is connected to future academic success. Studies have found that standardized test performance, when combined with classroom learning, helps predict how students will perform in college and whether they persist through their educational journey. Students who take exams seriously reinforce a simple but powerful idea: when they develop the skills, focus, and perseverance required to perform well on assessments, they build a foundation for long-term achievement.

Equally important is the mindset students bring to these moments. Taking tests seriously fosters goal-setting, resilience, time management, and confidence, which are skills that extend far beyond a single exam. These are the same attributes that help students navigate the challenges of middle and high school, succeed in college, and ultimately thrive in their careers and in life.
